The project was initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which internet access became a necessary tool for continuing government plans, programs, and activities. The education sector also implemented a distance learning system to comply with pandemic regulations.
Launched on April 1, 2021, by the Communication and Information Services Office (CISO) with collaborative support from the DICT provincial office, the project is currently operational and progressing to phase 2. Phase 2 prioritizes installations in public schools.
